TimelyText is pleased to announce that Gary Baker has joined our staff as Marketing/Administrative Assistant. Gary will be helping to keep things running smoothly with the day-to-day administration and he will also focus on improving our marketing strategies. We have asked Gary to put together a little bio about himself and encourage you to read on to learn more about our newest team member.
I am excited to be the newest addition to the TimelyText team. As I reflect on the journey that led me to TimelyText, I will say it has been anything but traditional. I grew up in Virginia Beach, VA and went on to get my BS in Business/Marketing Management from Virginia Tech. I spent the first part of my working life in various roles in Human Resources including one that brought me to the Raleigh area. I was also able to obtain an SPHR certification during this time.
This is where things veered off the traditional path. Due to a family decision, I spent the next 16 years as a stay-at-home dad to my two daughters. I initially kept myself busy doing a lot of volunteer work in schools and then as my girls got older, I opened up my own retail shop/ eCommerce business. I ran that business for about 5 years and decided that I was ready to do something different. This crazy path eventually led me to TimelyText and I am very excited to be here. On the personal side, I met and married my wife, Lisa, here in Raleigh. We have two incredible daughters and for some reason we also ended up with 5 cats. We have lived in the Raleigh area for almost 30 years. In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis and golf and cheering on the Hurricanes and the Hokies.

I’m a storyteller!
Exactly how I’ve told stories has changed through the years, going from writing college basketball analysis in the pages of a newspaper to now, telling the stories of the people of TimelyText. Nowadays, that means helping a talented technical writer land a new gig by laying out their skills, or even a quick blog post about a neat project one of our instructional designers is finishing in pharma.
