Tipper Tie, Inc. called on TimelyText to assist with organizing and updating the company’s user guide documentation in the Hardware Engineering Department. The document library had been developed primarily with Interleaf software that was no longer supported and had not been updated as frequently as desired.

A TimelyText employee with more than two decades of user documentation experience analyzed the document library and the needs of the company, recommended a more user-friendly document format and suggested a more accessible application. Over the next six months, all of the priority user guides were converted and updated to the current engineering criteria with an increased emphasis on safety and ISO documentation standards. In the following six months, the remaining user guides for older equipment were converted and updated, and a new online document storage and retrieval system was developed. The relationship has also seen a significant reduction in the amount of time needed for document development for new machines. This is because the user guides are now developed concurrently with the prototypes and are available to be shipped along with the new machines. A value-add benefit for Tipper Tie is that the Technical Services Department is now included in the document review process and immediate document updates are made when adverse trends are identified in the field, which has helped to reduce the technical support call volume.
